Kesari Patil

In maharashtra, the undisputed leader in tourism industry is none other than ‘Kesari Travels – World class travel company’. Currently, Kesari is completing 3rd decade of operation, since it’s inception in 1984.

This company emerged out as family business being managed by next generation of Kesari Patil comprising of his 2 daughters, 2 sons & son/daughter-in-laws as a pillar each of this business.

Family background: Born as 4th & youngest child in the farming family on 10th April 1935 at village Mathane; located 80km from Mumbai.

Education: Schooling from village Mathane, Yedwan & Vasai followed by agricultural diploma from Kosbad.

Profession: Started working as a school teacher at Bordi school in 1956 & latter continued teaching at Yedwan, managing farming in parallel at native village mathane.

Spouse & children: Got married to his student Sunita Raut from nearby village on 26th April 1963 & blessed with 4 children named Vina, Shailesh, Zelam & Sudhanshu.

Turning point in profession: Started assisting elder brother Raja Patil in his travel company in Mumbai during the school vacations in 1963. Eventually, Kesari Patil accepted the offer of joining his brother fulltime in 1967, hoping between Mumbai & Mathane. He shifted to Mumbai with family in 1980. He worked with Raja travel company for 21  years(1963 – 1984) as tour manager.

Turning point in life: At the age of 50, Kesari Patil decided to start his own company ‘Kesari Travels’ in Mumbai involving all the family members in the operation of business.

 

It’s never too late to start your own venture in the field of your interests. Kesari Patil dared to transform his part-time interest into his long-life vision. It does not really matter; whether you have any qualification, experience in that specific field, although it’s an advantage to have it. And of course, there is no short-cut to success without lots of hardwork, extreme desire, honesty, discipline & dedication.
