“Best flying salesman of the world” - this is how Dr. Dinesh
Keskar is known to aviation industry.
Mr. Keskar is stalwart in the field of
aviation industry globally. While working with Boeing for the last 35 years, he
has achieved many milestones & currently shoulders responsibilities as senior
vice president of Boeing Asia pacific as well as Vice President of Boeing
International trading.
Background: Born on 25th-July’1954 at Rajkot in a middle-class family. His father was a professor at VMV College at Amravati.
- Graduation in
Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology,
Nagpur with a gold medal in 1975.
- Masters &
doctorate in Aerospace Engineering from the university of Cincinnati in 1976
& 1978 respectively, under the supervision of Neil Armstrong.
- MBA from City
university in Seattle in 1987 and was a recipient of the President’s honour
roll.
- In 1994, he
attended the Berkeley executive program at the university of California,
Berkeley.
Profession:
Started career as research associate in the Flight dynamics and control
division at NASA Langley research center.
- Joined Boeing in
1980 & was responsible for research and consultation in the areas of system
identification, digital signal processing and modern control theory until 1986.
- From 1987 to 1995,
Keskar was a director of International sales, where he managed all of Boeing’s
airplane sales and marketing activities in India.
- From August 1995 to
January 2000, Keskar served as Boeing India for Boeing commercial airplanes.
- In February 2000,
Keskar served as vice president sales and president of Boeing aircraft trading.
- From august 2004, Keskar
served as Boeing commercial airplanes vice president of sales for south and
southeast asia.
- In march 2009,
Keskar was appointed vice president of Boeing International trading and
president of Boeing India.
- In February 2012,
he assumed the post of Senior Vice President of Asia Pacific and India Sales
for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
Turning point in career:
Breaking the myth of scholars usually work in R&D, he decided to take on
the challenges of sales field, which turned out to be stepping stone in his
career.
Once, Swami Vivekanand said -
“Tale up one idea. Make that one idea your life. Think
of it, dream of it and live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every
part of your body be full of that idea. And just leave every other idea alone.
This is the way to success”.
Mr. Keskar practised above saying in true sense during his life journey &
is the essence of his success mantra. He climbed ladder of success
consistently, being the best from the rest & no wonder we may see him as
next president of Boeing International very soon.
Laurel: In June 1999, Dr.
Keskar was honored with the “Distinguished Alumni Award” by the University of
Cincinnati. In September 2006, he received the Outstanding Achievement award
from the American Society of Engineers of Indian Origin.
