During Diwali break, we as a family enjoyed the picnic at Suryashibir - the calm & cool place at just 2 hrs drive from Pune on the bank of Varasgaon dam backwater.
Although, i like visiting the beautifull places amidst the nature, i started the travelling very recently during these 2/3 years; after owning ALTO - my 'Swast & Mast' travel companion.
On return journey, we suddenly planned to visit Sinhgad, the fort my ALTO was waiting for a long to conquer. It was very nice to enjoy the almost perfect monsoon season in the month of October. I really experienced the feel of proud in front of the 'Tanaji Malusare' statue. My 5 year son 'Shyam' started relating his statue to 'Chhatrapati Shivaji' serial on television, which he has daily followed almost without fail. In my son, i have noticed the resemblance of mine about the interest & curiosity related to nature, animals, forts, rivers etc. That's the reason, why our favourite television channel is Animal planet & Discovery.
Continuing the chain of Pratapgad & Sinhgad, our next attraction will be Raigad as per the choice of my son. So, i will be back with the next picnic details.

Actually, this was our 3rd-tour after Mahabaleshwar-Pratapgath, Diveagar-SriVardhan-Harihareshwar tours.
Although, i like visiting the beautifull places amidst the nature, i started the travelling very recently during these 2/3 years; after owning ALTO - my 'Swast & Mast' travel companion.
About the trip more, i found this place better than my expectation. And since we visited on odd days avoiding weekend, the visiters were less leading to less noise pollution. This place has got all the activities to keep the kids busy - swimming, ladders, swings, terrain bike, waterfall, rain dance, sports like cricket, football, table tennis, carrom etc.
The whole landscaping is done maintaining the natural slopes of the place amidst lots of trees. Before going to bed in the night, one can experience sheer joy of listening to wind passing through the lots of trees. Also, the star gazing in the moonlight over your head & it's replication in the dam back-water is pleasing experience indeed. Being away on this tour surely rejuvenated my peace of mind.
Food is strictly vegetarian having a mix as heavy lunch & light dinner. I was really delighted to have khichadi & Kadhi in the dinner. We opted for a package starting with breakfast, followed by heavy lunch, tea in the evening, light dinner & bed-tea by early next morning.

Coming back to picnic, the tour was very economical with a charge of only Rs 575 per head. You just can not find this cheap rate for one night hault stay. For further details please browse through http://www.suryashibir.in/
