Teach for India

Going with the fact that; modern infrastructure, facilities, tutors cann’t reach the under resourced schools to educate under-privileged students. But, well educated young students & professionals can surely reach them in pursuit of equity in education. In return, these fellow teachers will emerge as life-long leaders after gaining indepth knowledge & experience of India's educational system & it's challenges. And this is the theme behind establishment of non-profit organization ‘Teach for India’(TFI) in the year 2008.

TFI offers teaching fellowship of 2 years after passing the selection process.  Currently the applications are open for June 2012 fellowship. Applicants must be willing to make a full-time commitment to teaching and living in one of placement cities (Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad) starting June 2012, to be a part of the Teach For India Fellowship. Fellows of the program will be full-time staff members of the schools in which they are placed and will work stipulated school hours, six days a week. Since the Teach For India Fellowship aims at building future leaders, applicants will have to be born after 1^st January 1976.

For 2012 Fellowship, TFI are seeking 450 Fellows to teach 22,500 children in four cities.They also provide a monthly stipend to all its Fellows.
