Festival of Lights (or smoke & noise?)

The festival of lights ‘Diwali’ is associated with return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya after his 14 years of the exile & victory over the demon Ravana. Symbolising victory of good over the evil, Lord Ram was welcomed on this day by lightening the rows of dips throughout the kingdom. That’s why this festival is named as ‘Dipawali’, which eventually gets transformed as ‘Diwali’.
Over the years, this celebration is now leaned more towards use of crackers, overshadowing the lightening. Unfortunately, millions of rupees are spent over the crackers, thereby producing lots of smoke around & noise. This bitter fact is applicable across the lengths & breadths of the country. Regardless of gender, age, literacy & financial status, almost everybody has his share in this black truth. At the same time, we feel very proud about our customs, culture, traditions & spirituality. No doubt, all these rituals add to our living, thinking & values of life positively. But, we must be open hearted to accept the bitter fact of causing nuisance to the environment & show the courage to change these traditions of celebration, being a rebel sometimes.
Also, the smoke caused by crackers may cost a life to asthma & bronchitis patients. Think of the kids & senior citizens, who are anyway struggling for a natural breadth.

We must draw a line somewhere to look beyond just celebration & think of humanity & be considerate of the environment. The elders can surely stay away from crackers, thereby indirectly inheriting the ecofriendly Diwali among kids.

Njoy the festival of lights by lightening the dips & please don’t make it a festival of smoke & noise. So, be Happy & make others happy (if u can)J

  1. Though Diwali is festival of color and celebration, usually we send wishes to our friend but sometimes we need to send wishes in such a way that it looks funny. It can hurt someone or a real eye opening message to the friend. So here is my small / beautiful message which is a short joke too this diwali. Make it funny diwali.

    Main aasha karta hun
Ki iss diwali ke sunder mauke pe,
    Diwali ki alowkik Prakaash se,
Tumhare dimaag main kuch ujala ho..
Aur tum insaano jaisi vyavhaar karna shuru kardo….
