I am about to finish reading book ‘Eka dishecha shodh’ by Sundeep Waslekar. Actually, I could not hold myself from writing about this book even before turning the last page. The contents literally forced me to share it with as many youngsters as possible. Mr. Waslekar was invited to present the young achiever awards by Sakal group in Pune. His speech while addressing this function was published in Sakal newspaper on public request. That is how, I came to know about him & his best-seller book. This book is real eye-opener for youngsters.
Eka dishecha shodh speaks about the responsibility of every citizen of India towards the society, our preparedness & where we stand as a country to face the upcoming global challenges in the decades to come as compared to the developing western countries. Mr. Waslekar has touched various important issues like our educational system, political system, nature & water conservation, foreign policies, illiteracy, contradiction between our GDP & poverty, global economy, terrorism etc. in this book.
Mr. Waslekar, president of 'Strategic foresight group' advises governments and institutions around the world on managing future challenges through research & analysis of various systems in practice within a country & proposing a roadmap for the decades to come.
For this purpose, he has been consulted by prime ministers, presidents, ministers, governmental officers from almost 50 countries across all subcontinents. He has the experience of working with the Indian Parliament, the European Parliament, UK Houses of Commons and Lords, United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, League of Arab States etc. Every year, he receives the invitation to join the world economic forum in the last week of January at 'Davos' in Switzerland. Across the globe, around 200 key peoples are invited to this important event; which our prime minister cann’t attend due to Republic day.
Mr. Waslekar has really come a long way to achieve this feat from his childhood days of living in chawl of Dombivali, Mumbai & studying at Tilaknagar Vidyamandir, a marathi medium school.
Well, coming back to ‘Eka dishecha shodh’ - This is perhaps the best book, I have read in the recent past. It surely creates an impact on the mind of reader to make him think as responsible citizen. I urge one & all to go for it.
